IRMA PC/3278 Decision Support Interface

The IRMA Decision Support Interface is an expansion card for standard IBM PCs that allows the PC  to fully emulate an IBM 3278 mainframe terminal. This means that the PC can function as an IBM 3278 terminal, connecting to a mainframe network and accessing applications and databases resident on IBM and compatible mainframe computers. Users could switch between either using the PC normally, or using it as a mainframe terminal.

The board has its own microprocessor, an 8X305 chip, I/O interfaces, a register array, and a screen buffer that together operate independently from the IBM PC's own microprocessor. The board uses a terminal emulation program called DSI, run from a supplied disk.

The board is marked as an FCC class A computing device, meaning it should not be marketed for use in a residential environment.
